travel republic of ireland glendalough

Glendalough, meaning "Valley of two lakes," is a Early Medieval monastic settlement founded in the 6th century in glacial valley in County Wicklow, Ireland.
This early Christian monastic settlement was founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century although most of the surviving structures date from the 10th through 12 centuries.
The site is beautifully located in a lush green valley and is served by a beautiful new Visitor's Center and a neighboring hotel and cafe.
Ample parking is provided and crowds are usually large.
If possible, the site would be best enjoyed at non-peak times when the tour buses are not around.
